We love winter for so many reasons — the holidays, hot chocolate, gathering around the fireplace, etc! But we don’t love the fact that we can’t be on the green in freezing cold weather. Wintertime can lure us into letting our bodies stay inactive. Here at GGblue, we believe in staying healthy all year long, even when we can’t practice our favorite exercise. Keep reading to learn some of our favorite healthy comfort food recipes for those chilly months!

Warm Up This Winter

It’s safe to say that you won’t be needing those golf shorts for a while; winter is a time to be cozy! Check out these amazing dishes to keep your tummy and heart warm this holiday season:

Butternut Squash Crockpot Soup: We think soup is like the ultimate comfort food for cold weather. And this soup recipe is so easy you can do it any day of the week! Slow cooker recipes are truly a gift. For this healthy comfort food recipe, all you do is throw the few ingredients into the pot and let it cook for several hours. That’s it. Chop some butternut squash, pour in some broth, cream, and spices, and blend it up. Garnish with pumpkin seeds for extra crunch and yum! Find the full recipe here.

Spaghetti Bolognese: One word for this dish: delish! We’re big fans of one-pot dishes. For this one, all of your chopped veggies go into the bottom of a big pan with your meat of choice (like ground beef or turkey) and tomato sauces. Let it simmer for a couple of hours, then drench it over your choice of noodles, like thick spaghetti or zucchini noodles! Our secret bolognese trick: throw in a cinnamon stick while it cooks down! Veggie Frittata: For super healthy comfort food recipes, always check out frittatas. A frittata is a kind of egg casserole. We love them because they’re ridiculously easy to make, and you can change up the ingredients to make as many variations of the dish as you want. Saute some of your favorite vegetables, pour in your egg mixture and a dairy if you choose, and dash on some spices. Stick it in the oven, and voila! This is great comfort food for cold weather.
